2) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise:

• Govt. of AP follows the MSME definition laid out by the Gol as per the
  MSMED Act 2006 from time to time. The definition updated based on the notification released on 1st June 2020 is as follows.
• Micro Industries: Investment in Plant and Machinery or Equipment: Not more than Rs.1 crore and Annual Turnover: not more than Rs. 5 crores.
• Small Industries: Investment in Plant and Machinery or Equipment: Not more than Rs.10 crore and Annual Turnover: not more than Rs. 50 crores.
• Medium Enterprises Investment in Plant and Machinery or Equipment Not more than Rs.50 crore and Annual Turnover: not more than Rs. 250 crores.
• Large Industrial Project: A large Project is a unit which has investment and turnover thresholds more than the Medium enterprises as described in the MSMED Act, 2006.

Dr.Y.S.R. Navodayam Scheme

• The MSME sector, which contributes immensely for the economic development of the State and employment creation, needs lot of credit support from the Financial Institutions and also timely help in times of stress.
• The government has decided to support and monitor the implementation of OTR of MSME loans scheme under an umbrella program
• Dr. Y.S.R Navodayam which creates a new ecosystem for MSMEs ensuring that all the eligible MSME units are covered for One Time Restructuring of accounts upto 31-03-2020. The government provide support by reimbursing 50% (not exceeding Rs.2,00,000/ - per account) of the auditor's fee for preparation of Techno Economic Viability (TE) report, wherever such report is applicable for the cases restructured by the banks under OTR.

• The first cotton mill was established in A.P at Pandellapaka village of Kakinada district. Later it was closed. Another mill was established at Rayadurgam of Satyasai district in 1921.

• Rayalaseema has highest number of cotton textile mills in the state, Where as Chittoor district is having highest number of mills.

• The 1st Jute textilemill was established at Nelimerla in 1930 in Vijayanagaram district.

• There are a total of 8 jute Mills located in A.P, out of which 4 units are situated in Vijayanagaram district only.
• Visakha, Srikakulam, Guntur and West Godavari districts have one unit each. The four units in Vijayanagaram district are Nellimarla jute mill Nellimarla, one in Bobbilli and two more in Vijayanagaram.

c) Silk Textile Industry :

• The 1st silk textile mill was started at Hindupur in Satyasai district. At present A.P stands at 2nd position next to the Karnataka in producing silk yarn in the country, where as in A.P Satyasai stands at 1st position followed by Chittoor.

• The important centres of Silk textiles in Satyasai district are Hindupur, Penugonda, Kadiri, Gorantla.
• A.P sericulture and development institute was setup in Hindupur in 1995.

e) Tobacco Industry:

• India occupies second place in tobacco production in the world. Andhrapradesh is in the first position among Indian States in its cultivation. A.P is also known as 'India's Havana', as it produces best tobacco. Virginia, one of the finest varities of tobacco, is cultivated in Guntur district, which is famous all over the world.

a) Visakha Steel plant:

• Foundation of the Visakha Steel factory was started in 1971 and it's construction was started in 1982 by RINL (Rashtriya Ispath Nigam Limited) and was finished and dedicated to the Nation on 1st August, 1992. It is the only steel factory located at the sea coast in the country and also the first fully coordinated steel factory in Southern India. Later, the Government of India had taken over and changed it into the Hindustan Shipyard Company.

• The Government of India (Gol) has announced a National Manufacturing Policy-2011, with the objective to enhance the share of manufacturing in GDP to 25% within a decade and creating 100 million jobs.
• As per the Policy, NIMZs was developed as integrated industrial townships.
