• Minerals are considered as basic raw materials for industrial development of the state. Mineral wealth is an important primary source in the development of the state. Government is trying to use it for the development of society by utilizing its mineral wealth in proper way. It is our duty to preserve the mineral wealth for future generations besides using them rapidly. This wealth has to be unearthed with a perfect plan without harming the atmosphere and should be used for the development of society.

• A.P is well known for variety of rocks & minerals and popularly called as 'Ratnagarba'

• Different types of minerals and fuel resources are available in A.P. Among those barites, coal, bauxite, iron ore, manganese, asbestos, lime stone, mica, copper, china clay, sand, silica, lead are important minerals that are available in the state. Besides these, mineral resources like Graphite, kainite, ilamenite, gypsum, fire clay, gold, diamonds etc. are also available in the state in little quantity.
• A.P mineral development corporation has been established as a full scale state government organization in 1961. Under the auspiceous of this organization asbestos from Brahmanapally of Kadapa district, Barites in Mangamapeta (Annamayya district) and Ball clay in dwarakatirumala of West Godavari district were unearthed.
• As per 2022-23 socio-economic survey the district in the state getting highest income from the mining and quarrying sector- East Godavari followed by Prakasham, where as the district getting lowest income is West Godavari followed by Vijaya nagaram.

Petroleum and Natural Gas

?

• It is recognized that hydrocarbons are available in an area of 75,000 sq kms at Krishna, Godavari Basin in A.P In the year 1959 survey is conducted in this area and in the year 1978 drilling is started in Godavari Basin. On 19th December 1979 Petroleum was discovered at Lingaboyinacherla (Narsapur) for the first time in the state. In A.P natural gas and crude oil resources were found at Kaikaluru, Rajolu, Chinchunadu and Medaravanimeraka near to coast of the state.
